changing the colour of an object in photoshop
(Spec Spot)

Using a screen recording program, audio capture software, and a video editor, I created a quick forty-five second tutorial on changing the colour of an object in Photoshop in the style of a TikTok video/YouTube Short. As Gen Z begins joining the workplace, different learning formats will be needed to best train this new audience. Internet video consumption habits among younger people have leaned strongly towards easily digestible, quickly re-playable, less-than-one-minute videos cropped specifically for smaller screens. This phenomenon can be attributed to TikTok, the largest social media platform for Gen Z, and can be further observed by the growth and investment into YouTube Shorts (essentially TikTok-style videos on YouTube). When using video to provide training in the future, businesses will need to adjust to these new expectations to best capture and teach an increasingly tech-savvy workplace.

When designing this project, I wanted to accomplish the following goals:

  • The video must be no longer than forty-five seconds

  • The video must use a 9:16 aspect ratio and designed to be viewed on mobile devices

  • The value proposition of the video must be immediately stated, and the steps to the task must be explained as simply as possible

  • The script must accommodate for looping and multiple replays: a clear description of the task must be included at the start of the video and the end result must be clearly stated at the end of the video

Tools Used: Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, ScreenRec
