Basics of PivotTables
(Spec Spot)

Using screen recording and audio capture technology, I delivered a mock virtual workshop by setting up a PivotTable in Excel. I did not use a script, and instead ad-libbed my narration from bullet points to simulate the “live” nature of this scenario. I also designed an accompanying workbook with solutions that so learners can practice what they’ve learned.
Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s become more important than ever to deliver training in an online environment. When designing this project, I wanted to accomplish the following goals:
Explain what a PivotTable is and why you would want to use one in a way that anyone can understand, even Excel beginners
Show the process in as straightforward and clear a way as possible
Avoid leaving things Excel does automatically unexplained, such as the Recommended PivotTables option or the Values section
Provide opportunities for learners to practice with plausible scenarios
Tools Used: Microsoft Excel, Open Broadcasting Software (OBS) for screen and audio recording, Adobe Premiere for video editing
